Southern Atlantic Marine Science Cooperation Workshop

Background

This international science workshop aims to be the first step towards the development of a multidisciplinary research initiative with partners from Brazil, South Africa and Europe, as well as the US and Canada, focused on the Central and South Atlantic system. The workshop will convene expertise from across the spectrum of the marine sciences to outline an interdisciplinary research agenda focused on key components of the Central and Southern Atlantic system as well as related human-ocean interrelations.

This workshop is complementary to the International North Atlantic-Arctic Planning Workshop hosted by the US National Science Foundation and the European Commission with the support of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Arlington, USA in April 2014.

To ensure a good discussion, participation will be limited to approx. 40 persons. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, though an effort will be made to ensure balanced participation from the various regions. Please send registrations to bruessel@deutsche-meeresforschung.de
